id-ul-zuha

Prayers, sacrifice on Eid-ul-Zuha in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Attired in their best, Muslims across Andhra Pradesh offered prayers at mosques, Eidgahs and open grounds before the slaughter of 'halal' animals, symbolising the spirit of sacrifice, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Zuha Monday. Imams, or priests, recalled the great sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim and exhorted Muslims to follow his teachings and the Quran for success both in this world and the hereafter. After the prayers, Muslims sacrificed goats and other 'halal' animals commemorating Prophet Ibrahim's great act of faith many centuries ago.
During the sermons, imams explained how Allah put Prophet Ibrahim to a most difficult trial and he readily agreed to sacrifice his only son Prophet Ismail. The Almighty accepted his sacrifice by replacing Prophet Ismail with a goat. The meat of the animals sacrificed on the occasion is distributed among neighbours, relatives and the poor.
Also known as Bakrid or Eid-e-Qurban, it is the second major festival of Muslims. They exchange greetings with relatives and friends and treated the visitors to their homes with sweets.
In Hyderabad, the biggest congregation was held at the historic Mir Alam Eidgah where over 200,000 people offered prayers. The historic Mecca Masjid witnessed the second biggest congregation.
Eid was also celebrated in other towns of the state with people turning out in large numbers at Eidgahs and mosques to offer prayers.

no mercy for accused

Mahila Sessions court dissmissed the petition of accused in sensational  murder.

The Mahila Sessions Court judge on Friday dismissed the petition filed by P. Venkata Rao, the prime accused, in the sensational murder case of eight-year-old Naga Vaishnavi, seeking permission to go for narco analysis test.
The accused filed a petition requesting the court to give permission for the narco test to prove his innocence. The hearing of the case will begin on January 23. The special public prosecutor, appointed by the government, Mr Brahmananda Reddy, has argued that there is no need to go for narco test, saying that the chargesheet has already been filed in the court and hearing will begin in January 2012.
The defence lawyer, Mr Ch. Manmadha Rao, said the accused is ready to go for narco test to prove his innocence.
The Mahila Sessions Court judge, Ms Nirmala Geetamba, dismissed the petition. The same court had earlier dismissed the bail petitions filed five times by the accused Venkata Rao. The police filed a chargesheet accusing Venkat Rao and two others in the sensational murder case of Naga Vaishnavi and her car driver Lakshmana Rao.
The girl was kidnapped and murdered while going to school in 2009.
Meanwhile, the BC Aikya Vedika leaders on Friday announced that they would observe one day fast on November 5 near the sub-collector’s office demanding speedy trial of the case.
The BC Aikya Vedika leaders, Mr Buddha Nage-swara Rao, Mr Bayana Sekhar Babu and Mr Nan-deti Prabhakar told reporters that the Vedika is demanding that the culprits be brought to the book at the earliest.
