Dr. Ghazal Srinivas, Pioneer of Telugu Ghazal Singing & 3 times Guinness Book of World Records Holder, enthralled audiences at 2010 Detroit Telugu Association (DTA) Diwali Event on Nov 13th, 2010 at Walled Lake North High School in Michigan.
Grand Finale of the night was Dr. Ghazal Srinivas's concert. It was an emotional journey for the audience with subjects like family, NRI life & Native village. He also presented new ghazal "NRI Vilapam" about NRI wanting to return back to India, penned by President Elect Venkat Aekka. He also performed ghazals penned by Dr Rentala, RAsaraju and Ghazal Srinivas.
Ghazal penned by Dr Srinivas " Tirugu Prayanam" (return JOurney} was highlight of the concert.
The event was a grand success with about 1500 Telugu community members with lower and upper level halls and walls packed with crowds. The event was excellently planned and flawlessly executed by 2010 DTA Executive Team under the leadership of DTA President Chalapathi Koduri. The 11 item dinner buffet was delicious and appreciated by one and all. Credit goes to 2010 DTA Food committee under the leadership of Raj Kamety, Parvathi Doddipotla, Vijaya Garimella and several volunteers. Teasurer Nagender Aytha and Jt Treasurer Kamaraju Vadrevu helped at the front desk registering record DTA memberships in DTA's history
The cultural programs started with the welcome address by DTA President Chalapathi Koduri at 6:00pm. Chalapathi garu highlighted accomplishments of the year like record memberships, record attendances and High quality Dinners at all 2010 DTA events. Diwali Event Anchors Cultural Secretary Sirisha Uppalapati and Sports Secretary Sirisha Ravipati were elegant, funny and made sure all performers were given the promised slots. There were 33 entries with around 170 Telugu kids presenting on the stage.
2010 DTA recognitions of prominent Telugus in field of charity went to Sridhar Patel, Sridhar Bandaru, Ramesh Gudipuri, Srinivas Gudeti, Raghu Ravipati, Vani Uppalapati. The award receipients were honored by Detroit Community Leaders Hanumaiah Bandla, Pratap Koganti, Sharat Chandra, Ravi Gullapalli and Chalapathi Koduri.
General Secretary Shailendra Sanam introduced new 2011 DTA Exec committee onto the stage and wished them success for all 2011 DTA activities. Jogeswara Rao Peddiboina, 2011 DTA president introduced the new 2011 DTA executive team.
