A student from Vijayawada was shot dead in Texas, according to the information reaching here today.

A Jayachandra, 22, was doing MS in the United States and was working in a petrol bunk on part time job. He was on duty on Friday night when a black national raided the petrol pump. He asked Jayachandra to fill petrol in his car. When he was filling, the black pulled out a gun and shot the Indian student. He died on the spot.

Meanwhile, Mr Komati Jayaram, president of the Telugu Association of North America, visited the house of Jayachandra in Vijayawada and consoled his parents. He said TANA was making arrangements to bring the body of Jayachandra at the earliest. He said the body might reach Vijayawada by Thursday or Friday.(NSS)
